Established in 1931, Greenlawn Memorial Park was founded by Ed Helm, a visionary who recognized the need for additional interment property in the rapidly growing city of Bakersfield. With his unwavering commitment to serving the community, Ed Helm also established the renowned Bakersfield Monument Company in 1927.

In 1934, the planning process began for Greenlawn Mortuary, which was later inaugurated in 1941. This sacred place of solace and remembrance was brought to life by Ed himself, as he turned the first shovelful of earth, laying the foundation for the chapel that would stand as a testament to the lives and legacies of those who came before us.
