In the late 1800s, Hamden Holmes Noble envisioned a sanctuary of healing and beauty nestled alongside the Bay Area peninsula. His dream became a reality with the establishment of Cypress Lawn. Over the past century, many larger-than-life individuals have been laid to rest here, characters who were integral to California’s early years – and the foundation of the West. Their memories echo throughout our hallowed grounds, a treasured part of the fabric of our compelling and unique heritage.

Cypress Lawn is a serene oasis within the Bay Area. Not only is it rich in cultural and historical significance, but it’s also a place surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty and captivating views. Visitors come to Cypress Lawn to plan their arrangements, tour our internationally recognized arboretum, and view our exquisite architecture. Death is part of the circle of life, but we want this to be a place where both the young and the old can visit to enjoy and savor life.
