- Transporting the body - Obtaining a death certificate - Selecting a casket, urn, and/or grave marker - Arranging the funeral, memorial, and/or burial service - Preparing and publishing the obituary - Notifying the deceased's employer, attorney, insurance company, and banks - Offering grief support - Providing information on additional resources

If your loved one was employed, it is crucial to inform their employer promptly to discuss the necessary adjustments in their staffing arrangements. Once the funeral is over, you might inquire about the deceased's benefits and any outstanding pay, including vacation or sick time. It is also worth discussing whether you or other dependents are still eligible for benefit coverage and if a life insurance policy exists through the employer. If so, the Funeral Director can assist in filing a claim by submitting the appropriate documentation, such as the death certificate and a claimant's statement.
