About Us: Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home has been serving families since 1953, when Frank Greenwood and Don Whitlach acquired Schmidt Funeral Home in Cherokee. Originally known as Greenwood and Whitlach Funeral Home, it was later renamed Greenwood Funeral Home after Whitlach's departure. In 1976, Frank's son Tim Greenwood and his wife Patty took over the funeral home, continuing the legacy of compassionate service.

Ownership transitioned to Matt Schubert and his wife Julie, both Cherokee natives. In order to better serve the community, a second location was established in Marcus, IA in 2010. Led by Matt Schubert, Andrea Orthmann, and our caring staff, we are dedicated to upholding the Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home's reputation for compassionate and thoughtful funeral service.
