Established over 40 years ago, our family-owned and operated funeral home has been proudly serving the Perry community and its surrounding areas.

Our founder, Steve Murdock, has dedicated himself to funeral services and has amassed a wealth of experience and knowledge. Steve's passion for serving his community led him to pursue his dreams at the Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science, where he graduated in 1974. Subsequently, he worked in Des Moines before deciding to settle in Perry with his wife, Joyce, in 1978. They acquired Time on Funeral Home and merged with Fouch Funeral Home in 1983, ultimately leading to the establishment of Murdock Funeral Home in January 1990.

Steve and Joyce Murdock have three grown daughters and six beloved grandchildren. As a family, they understand the importance of providing a warm and comfortable environment for grieving families. Every detail is meticulously attended to, ensuring that each funeral service reflects the desires and wishes of the family.

With professional affiliations such as the Iowa Funeral Directors Association and the National Funeral Directors Association, Steve Murdock is widely respected within the industry. He is also an active member of Perry Elks Lodge #407 and Otley Masonic Lodge #299.
