Heritage Cemetery, located at 6941 Central Avenue in Portage, IN, has been faithfully serving the community and its surrounding areas for over 25 years. Established in 1997 by John and Laurie Evans, Heritage Cemetery sits on 42 acres of serene land, adjacent to the historic McCool Cemetery.

The vision of the Evans family was to transform the former farmland property into a tranquil cemetery, dedicated to providing exceptional end-of-life services. In addition to creating Heritage Cemetery, they expanded Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home to Portage, incorporating an on-site crematory as well. As the first and only combination death care facility in Northwest Indiana, our establishment upholds a longstanding legacy of excellence.

Throughout the years, Heritage Cemetery has grown to offer more than traditional full-service burials. We now provide an array of options to meet the evolving needs of our community. From cremation burials to columbariums, our memorial garden and tranquil wooden paths, we are proud to offer a wide range of memorialization choices. Furthermore, we are honored to be one of the first cemeteries in northern Indiana to offer green burial options, demonstrating our commitment to environmental sustainability.
