    The Washington County Council of Governments (WCCOG) is a distinguished municipal membership organization dedicated to empowering communities and shaping the future of Washington County, Maine. Through our comprehensive planning, advisory, and resource development services, we assist municipalities in their journey towards progress and prosperity.

    Led by our esteemed Executive Director, the WCCOG is currently seeking a talented Planner to join our team. This position offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the region's development and contribute to the well-being of our vibrant communities.

    As a Planner, you will provide invaluable technical assistance to municipalities and regional cooperative entities across Washington County. Your expertise in diverse planning areas, including comprehensive, transportation, pre-mitigation, emergency, economic development, land use, stream crossings, climate resiliency, natural resources, and Brownfields redevelopment, will be instrumental in fostering sustainable growth and regional collaboration.

    With a minimum of 3-5 years of experience, advanced education, or refined training in planning or related fields, you possess the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in this role. Your proven track record in project management, community development, and facilitating meaningful partnerships sets you apart as a relationship builder capable of working with diverse constituencies.

    In this dynamic position, you will exercise your ability to prioritize multiple projects, administrative duties, and responsibilities while working both independently and collaboratively. Your exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, will allow you to effectively listen, articulate ideas, and secure funds for planning programs through persuasive proposal writing.

    To thrive in this role, you must be highly self-motivated and able to adeptly navigate various community locations, both in-person and virtually, to participate in meetings with partners. A vehicle and valid driver's license are essential to fulfill the position's physical requirements successfully.
