Our story dates back to January 1, 2023, when Eric Pendergrass acquired Hutchings Funeral Chapel from Marian and Charles Hutchings. The legacy of compassionate care began years before that, with the founding of Baker Funeral Home by A.J. Baker in 1926. A pioneer in the field of embalming, A.J. Baker's commitment to exemplary service laid the foundation for what is now Hutchings-Pendergrass Funeral Chapel.

Over the years, the torch of compassion was passed down within families, as Mike and Geneva Graham and later Eddie Graham continued the tradition at Baker Funeral Home. In the mid-1980s, Neil G. took the helm until the Hutchings family assumed operations in 1996. Marian and Charles Hutchings, along with Joe and Vicki Seiler, devoted themselves to the care and support of grieving families until December 31, 2022.
