Desert View Funeral Home, founded in 2006 by Floyd Valdez, stands as a testament to his unwavering dedication to the funeral home industry. With over 35 years of experience, Floyd built a reputation for his professionalism, respectfulness, and genuine care for every family he served. In 2006, his lifelong dream became a reality when he established Desert View Funeral Home in Shiprock, New Mexico.
Floyd's vision extended beyond providing exceptional service; he aimed to create a facility that would make our Diné people proud. His remarkable soul left a positive impact on everyone he encountered. Sadly, Floyd was called to his Heavenly Home on December 29, 2020, leaving behind a community of friends, colleagues, and a large family, including his sister, Elaine Valdez, the current owner of Desert View Funeral Home.
Elaine has carried forward Floyd's legacy, ensuring that his vision lives on. In 2012, she obtained her Mortuary Science Degree and passed her national boards, making her the first Diné female licensed funeral director in the Navajo Nation. Elaine is licensed in both New Mexico and Arizona, ready to serve families with utmost professionalism.
