Established in 1958, the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home has been providing compassionate and personalized funeral services to families in Somerset County and the surrounding areas for over 50 years. Founder Mr. Robert H. Halverson transformed a private residence built by the Krebs family in 1926 into our esteemed funeral home. In 1986, we expanded the premises to include a spacious chapel and viewing room, casket selection room, office, and additional garage space. Today, we continue this tradition of delivering dignified and personalized services under the ownership and management of local funeral director James H. Kight, who acquired the business in 1998.

As a licensed funeral director since 1975 in West Virginia and 1977 in Pennsylvania, James H. Kight brings decades of experience and expertise to our funeral home. He is a graduate of Beckley College in West Virginia and the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. A member of the First Christian Church, Somerset Lodge #358 F&AM, the Rotary Club of Somerset, and various funeral director associations, Mr. Kight is dedicated to providing exceptional care to every family we serve.

Assisting with visitations and funerals, David K. Halverson, a native of Somerset, is an integral part of our staff. An avid outdoorsman, David enjoys hunting and fishing. He is a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church and past president of the Rotary Club of Somerset. Additionally, David serves as an insurance broker through the Mosholder Insurance Agency. With 44 years of service at our funeral home, David is committed to supporting families with compassion and professionalism.

Contributing to our team, Katherine R. Kight, wife of Jim Kight, lends her expertise in visitations, funerals, and general office work. She is an active member of the First Christian Church, serving as a deaconess and participating in the church choir. Katherine also holds an officer position in Trinity Chapter #138 Order of the Eastern Star, making valuable contributions to our funeral home and the community.

Elizabeth V. Kight, daughter of Jim Kight, offers her assistance with visitations, funerals, and general office work. A member of the First Christian Church, Elizabeth also works as an optometric assistant for Dr. Gregory Bittner in Somerset. Joining our team in 2001, she brings a compassionate and caring approach to supporting grieving families.
