Established in 1964, Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home has a long and esteemed history in the funeral industry. Our story begins with founder Mauro P. Garcia, Sr., who graduated from Commonwealth College of Sciences in Houston, Texas in 1949. After becoming a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer, he gained valuable experience working for various funeral homes across Texas.

In 1960, Mauro P. Garcia, Sr. joined forces with Mr. Mike Rios to establish the Garcia-Rios Mortuary in San Diego, Texas. Four years later, Mauro Sr. and his wife, Ines R. Garcia, founded Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home in San Diego, Texas. As a centralized location, Mauro Sr. coordinated funeral services throughout San Diego, Benavides, and Freer, Texas. Though initially slow, the business gradually expanded, thanks to Mauro Sr.'s commitment to providing exceptional service.

In 1971, Mauro P. Garcia, Jr. and his wife, Betty Lou Creager Garcia, joined the family business, further propelling its growth. The reputation of our funeral home continued to soar as Mauro Jr. and Betty Lou upheld the values and traditions established by Mauro Sr.

Recognizing the need for expansion, Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home of Alice was established in 1989. This marked a significant milestone in our journey, as our professionalism and dedication to providing compassionate funeral services reached new heights. During this time, Mauro Sr.'s daughter, Maria D. Garcia Aleman, also joined the family business, ensuring its continued success for future generations.

Though facing personal hardships along the way, including the passing of Ines in 1994, Mauro Sr. and Mauro Jr. remained unwavering in their commitment to serving the community. Mauro Sr. continued his traditions of service until his own passing in 1998. In that same year, the funeral homes and chapel were incorporated into Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Homes, Inc., solidifying our legacy.

Tragically, in 2002, Mauro Jr. lost his battle with cancer at the age of 50. However, his wife, Betty Lou, remains dedicated to upholding the family tradition of service, boasting an impressive 42 years of experience. Today, she continues to operate our funeral homes with the same level of professionalism and compassion that have come to define us.
