George Davis, Funeral Director

Allow us to introduce George Davis, a dedicated funeral director committed to serving your family with unwavering compassion. Born on October 14, 1929, in Pittsylvania County, VA, George was raised on his family's farm in the Brosville community. Following his education at Ferrum College, where he excelled in baseball, George proudly served his country in the US Army National Guard.

Embarking on his career in funeral service, George initially worked at McKee Funeral Home before joining Colbert Funeral Home. His passion for the profession led him to earn his Funeral Directors license in 1964, at which point he joined Swicegood Funeral Home as a Funeral Director and Vice President. Fidelity to Swicegood-Barker Funeral Home persisted throughout George's life, as he wholeheartedly served the community until his health prevented him from doing so. George was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church and had a great love for various sports, particularly baseball and football.
