Our story began in the early 1930s, when Oliver D. Washington, Sr., nurtured a childhood fascination with caring for the deceased. After completing his education at Eckels College of Mortuary Science in Philadelphia, PA, and serving in the U.S. Army, Oliver fulfilled his dream of becoming a licensed funeral director and embalmer. He honed his skills and gained valuable experience working in King & Queen and Essex counties.

Oliver's passion and expertise propelled him to manage the Corbin Funeral Home, eventually leading to the establishment of Washington & Corbin Funeral Home. In 1969, Oliver realized his vision by constructing our current location, where Washington Funeral Home, Inc., was born.

As a family-owned business, we understand the importance of personalized service. In 1997, Oliver's wife, Blanche Washington, and their son, Craig, joined the firm, furthering our commitment to serving families with care and compassion.
