Olsen-Gibson Funeral Home

The Olsen-Gibson Funeral Home, located at 221 S. Center Avenue in Jefferson, WI, is a locally owned establishment dedicated to serving with dignity, compassion, and excellence. With a rich history that dates back to 1888, we are proud to be a part of the thriving Jefferson County community.

Our story began when J.G. Fuchs established a furniture store and undertaking business. After his passing in 1912, his son Adam G. Fuchs took over. In 1926, Oscar Hildebrandt acquired the business, and in 1941, Harry Minshall became the new owner. Harry later sold the furniture store in 1947 to Arthur Swanson and retained the funeral home to continue serving the community.

In 1966, Harry Minshall invited Bernellyn Olsen to join him in the firm. When Harry retired in 1974, Bernie Olsen and his wife, Mona, purchased the funeral home and renamed it the Minshall-Olsen Funeral Home. Bernie and Mona were honored with the "Jefferson Citizen of the Year" award in 1981.

The Olsen family's dedication to the community led them to purchase the Hickey-Kent Funeral Home in Whitewater in 1987. Bernie's eldest son, James, joined the family business, and both locations were renamed Olsen Funeral Home. Another one of Bernie's children, David, joined the team in 1995.

In 2017, David retired and sold the funeral home to Jacob E. Gibson, resulting in the establishment being known as the Olsen-Gibson Funeral Home. Throughout the years, we have upheld a tradition rooted in experience, integrity, compassion, and dedication, making us the preferred funeral home for families in the area.
