As a graduate of Chapmanville High School and a former coal miner, Dale recognized the need for change in his life. He pursued his passion for the funeral industry by attending Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College, eventually earning a degree in Mortuary Science from the prestigious Mid-America College of Funeral Services in Jefferson, IN.

Dale began his mortuary career at Slater-Gilliam Funeral Home before realizing his dream of owning his own establishment. With determination and a solid foundation of knowledge, he founded Collins Funeral Home in Switzer. As the owner, operator, and funeral director, Dale served the community with empathy and professionalism.

Following in her father's footsteps, his daughter Olivia is committed to upholding his legacy. Together with Katrina Collins, they now serve as the owners of Collins Funeral Home. Additionally, Caleb Endicott, a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer, works closely with the family to ensure quality care for every family we serve.

Dale was not only known for his expertise in the industry but also for his strong faith as a devoted member of Monahill Memorial Freewill Baptist Church. He was cherished by many within our community, his church, and the camp community at East Lynn Lake. While the nature of his work often required him to wear formal attire, Dale found comfort in his bibbed overalls, tee shirt, and ball cap. His warm smile and willingness to lend a helping hand to those in need left an indelible mark on the hearts of countless individuals.
